Happy 2019!
BREE:
When I was little, I always loved the idea of a new year being a new start. I used to make resolutions until I was blue in the face. At some point, I stopped. I guess, I didn’t like the idea of making a promise, or a resolution, I knew I wouldn’t keep. So, now I like to make a list of goals that I hope to fulfill in the upcoming year (bookish-wise at least).
Goals:
– Read at least 70 books in 2019. I like to up my reading goal by 10 books each year to incite a challenge.
– I want to branch out into more categories of literature. I tend to read a lot of fiction and not very much else.
– Plan and follow an actual TBR, so that I can actually read the books I set out to finish.
– I would like to make more bookish friends in 2019. I’ve made a few since joining bookstagram in July, but it would be nice to have a few more.
– I will write reviews more promptly after completing books.
– I would like to grow my book sleeve shop, Sleeve Me Alone, from a hobby into something bigger.
– I hope to practice writing more often, and perhaps get better and less procrastinate-y.
– I also want to make sure that I set aside enough time to re-read some old favorites.
TREE:
I am not one who goes out and sets a bunch of reading goals for myself. Aside from settings a Goodreads goal every year since 2013, I really don’t set many goals. Last year my only goal was to read more of the books I own and have not read, that did not really pan out. But, in 2019 I want to try to set some goals. I also want to set a general TBR for the year and see what I actually manage to read.
Goals:
– Unhaul a lot of books. I am going to try to do a post here about that whole process, but I basically want to get rid of books I have not read and do not think I am going to read soon. I also want to get rid of books I don’t think I will reread (or won’t use for bookstagram) .
– Hit 1000 books marked as “read” on Goodreads. As of December 26, 2018; I’m at 938 books “read”.
– Keep a notebook where I keep track of all that I read with a comment or two. I used to do this when I was younger and when Goodreads did don’t count rereads.
– Utilize my library more. Especially when it comes to pre-orders. Did you know you can request books for your library to buy and then place yourself on the “wait list” before they even buy it? I plan to do this a lot.
Very Rough TBR (I SUCK AT TBRS SO MUCH)
-The Throne of Glass series, reread books 1-4 and then read books 5-7
-The Host by Stephanie Meyer
-The A Darker Shade of Magic Series, reread book 1 and then read 2 & 3
-Vinyl by Sophia Elaine Hansen and if I like it I will try to get to books two and three
xoxo, Bree & Tree
We also set a bunch of NetGalley goals if you want to check them out HERE
I loooove the name Sleeve Me Alone!! Good luck with all your goals, both of you! Setting aside time to read is something I think I’ll add to my goals too.
