We at Words About Words love doing tags, so when we were tagged by Fiction No Chaser to do theBooks I’ll (Probably) Never Read book tag, we couldn’t say no. And I know we have some pretty popular books listed below, but don’t judge us too harshly!
1. A really hyped book you are not interested in reading –
Bree: So I had to think about this for a minute but, Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. I just can’t see myself ever picking it up. It’s about 900 pages long and the synopsis seems underwhelming to me. I’m sorry. I know people are flipping their shit over it, but I guess it’s just not for me.
Tree: Furyborn (and the series) by Claire Legrand. I have heard only okay things about this and if I am going to pick up fantasy, I want to pick up one I know is amazing. Or at least one that other people think is amazing.
2. Series you won’t be starting/finishing –
Bree: Probably the Throne of Glass series. There’s like 7 books in the series and I just can’t see myself making my way through all of them. I’ve also heard things about Sarah J. Maas’ books/writing that make me just not want to read them.
Tree: The A Court of Thorns and Roses series (+spin off series). I have no interest in reading A Court of Wings and Ruin and A Court of Frost and Starlight. I enjoyed the first two in the series, but since I did not love them the hype sort of killed my interest.
Also, the Red Queen series. I read the first two books in the series. I did not enjoy the second one and by the time the third one game out, I realized I did not care about the world. The cover for the new novella? Prequel? is gorgeous though.
3. A classic you are not interested in –
Bree: I’m sorry, but I just don’t like reading classics at all. It’s hard for me to get into the flow of reading when the text is not modern English.
Tree: All of them lol. Not really, I do enjoy classics, but since I am not forced to read them for school anymore. I have no desire to read them since they take me forever to read and a lot of the symbolism is lost on me.
4. A genre you never read –
Bree: I don’t really read a lot of non-fiction, or sci-fi. I feel like if I’m going to read something that’s not contemporary, I usually go with fantasy.
Tree: I rarely tend to pick up thrillers. That does not mean I do like them, I just have no idea where to start with this genre. The few thrillers I have read have been mediocre.
5. A book on your shelves you will probably never actually read –
Bree: OH BOY. SO MANY OPTIONS. Probably the complete tales of Alice in Wonderland. I have one of those Barnes & Noble fancy editions. I just don’t see myself lugging that around. Or like, the huge stack of books that I’ve picked up over time from Little Free Libraries.
Tree: I have un-hauled a bunch of titles that I don’t see myself reading in the last year and try to only keep books that I know I will read. But I doubt if I will ever get to some of the older political science and history books I own.
Thanks so much for reading. We tag anyone who wants to do this tag!

I feel so similarly about so many of these! I knew Priory of the Orange Tree was long, but 900 pages??? Man, the last time I read something that long was A Song of Ice and Fire and it nearly killed me. Also, I keep swaying back and forth on Maas, and right when I’m thinking maybe yes, there’s always a post that puts me firmly back in the no way never side. Not only are there so many, but it just feels like there are a lot of issues surrounding them?
Thanks for sharing!
