BOOK TAG: The Guilty Reader Book Tag

I found this tag on Misty’s Book Space, but it originally came from Read Like Wildfire over on YouTube. It looked like a pretty fun tag, so I thought I’d try my hand at it!

1.) Have you ever re-gifted a book that you’ve been given?

I don’t think I’ve ever received a book I didn’t want? I mean, I’m always super open about which books I have my eye on (I keep a public book wishlist on Amazon to help my boyfriend out with gift ideas), and as a kid my parents would just take me and my brother to a book store and be like  “Pick 3. Happy Christmas/Birthday/Random Free Book Occasion.”

2.) Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t?

Not really? I have said that I’ve finished a book when I stopped like 50 pages from the end. I’d been trying to finish it for over a year and I just couldn’t take it anymore. But I spent all that time on it, so I didn’t want to mark it as DNF.

3.) Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it?

Yes, but it’s not my fault. I borrowed a book from someone in high school and when I tried to return it to them, they told me it was their ex’s book and they didn’t want it back. I couldn’t find a polite way to ask them to return it to their ex for me, so I think I still actually have it?

4.) Have you ever read a series out of order?

Maybe when I was in Elementary school and didn’t know any better? Other than that, no. I would hate to ruin an author’s hard-plotted work.

5.) Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?

Does it count as spoiling if I asked them if they were ever going to read the series on their own and they said no? Because I’ve done that after needing to vent my frustrations about particular books. *cough* The Folk of the Air series *cough*

6.) Have you ever dogeared a book?

Eeesh. The last time I remember doing it was in middle school with a book that was required reading, but we got to keep our copies? Looking back this seems kind of weird.

7.) Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do?

Nope. Normally it’s more of shouting that I also have that book when some talks about I book I happen to own.

8.) Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book?

Yes and no. I have, but I usually only read a couple lines to see if the book is picking up, to gauge whether I want to keep reading or take a break. Then I go back to where I was and continue from there.

9.) Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually liked?

No. I don’t see the point in it. Why would I trash something I enjoyed? Occasionally though, I will stay quiet when someone else bashes a book I liked. I just never feel like arguing with people about how our book tastes are different. Either it resonated with you or it didn’t, you know?
