BOOK HAUL: Holiday Haul

If you happened to read this post during Blogmas, then you know exactly what books I was hoping to receive for Christmas…and I didn’t want to keep anyone I anticipation, so I thought I would do a quick holiday (book) haul for y’all! (shh I love dumb rhymes.) Most of these were specific requests because I’ve been on a book buying ban, and had quite a few favorite reads from 2019 (and really wanted my own copies).

So, early last year I bought, read, and fell in love with Strange the Dreamer (review here), and of course needed to devour the second book, Muse of Nightmares. Unfortunately, the matching edition didn’t come out until September 2019 (we all know how important matching editions are), and by then I was already on aScreenshot (147) book ban. I never ended up picking up my own copy, so I’m quite glad to have received it as a gift! Also, now I will finally KNOW WHAT HAPPENS and maybe some of my stress will abate. Enjoy these fun updates from my initial read of Strange the Dreamer.

Ninth House was my first Bardugo book (I know, I know) and it was really quite fantastic! It actually spurned me into finally reading both Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom. Initially, I listened to my library’s audiobook copy, so I’m excited to be able to reread Ninth House and actually flip back and forth for key info. (Take my word, glossaries just don’t work in audiobook format.)

I waited until August 2019 to start this series because I knew the cliffhangers were brutal, and therefore the wait between books would be unbearable. Apparently, I didn’t wait long enough because I whipped through The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King twice each before we were half way though October. I didn’t get to squeeze a second reading of The Queen of Nothing into 2019, but I’m hoping to listen to the audiobook version soon and round out the obsession. I’m unbelievably happy to finally have my own copies of this series. I know I will definitely be picking them up again in the future.  (Thank you again Q! Much love!)

Vicious is the only book that was completely unexpected this year! I mean it is on my TBR and I don’t own it, so maybe I should have expected it? Also, Tree read it this year and really loved it, enough to slyly push it on me as a Christmas gift. (Thank you for giving it to me when you really wanted to keep it Tree! I appreciate your sacrifice!)

Shoutout to my library for lending me all the books this year!

xoxo, Bree

P.S. Here is a quick shot of some books I picked up during the BookOutlet Black Friday Sale. (Now you see why the title is “holiday haul.”) Anyways, there was a delivery issue and the box end up sitting out over night during a rain storm, and I was upset enough that I never ended up documenting my haul. But voila!
