BOOK TAG: 20 Questions

I happened upon this tag on faeryreads, and it looked like such a fun time that I had to try it myself!

How many books is too many books in a series?

I don’t think there’s such a thing as too many books in a series but, I will admit I’m less likely to pick up a series if it has more than 10 books already published. It’s just a lot of catch up for my pretty full TBR.

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

They’re only acceptable if I have the following book on hand, ready to dispensed relief. Honestly, I really hate cliffhangers. They’re just so excruciating.

Hardcover or paperback?

Well, I like hardcovers for my shelves, but I prefer reading paperbacks. They’re just more portable and I feel less guilty if I slightly damage them while I’m out and about. (Not that this has happened much since I discovered book sleeves.)

Favorite book?

I’m not capable of picking one favorite, but my favorite recent read is A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. My favorite part is the wide cast of characters matched with the extensive audiobook cast. Also I love Pip Fitz-Amobi’s personality, even if she does some dumb stuff. (Maybe I’m just a fan of teen-girl detective stories. Psst. Have you checked out the CW’s Nancy Drew TV show yet?)

Least Favorite Book?

Eeesh. My least favorite recent read has to be The Stepford Wives. It was just such a let down, especially since I’m a fan of the movie adaptation. So you know how Netflix sometimes adds older rom-coms to their catalog, and instead of a trailer playing, you just get a weird clip of a scene that absolutely does not encapsulate the vibe of the whole movie? Well, that weird random clip is basically what this book felt like. No beginning. No end. Just a observational clip of the middle of a story.

Love triangles, yes or no?

I’m not a fan.

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

I actually haven’t  DNF’d a book in a while, but the last time I did it was Comics Will Break Your Heart. Basically I just wasn’t feeling the book and since it was a library loan, I end up returning it early & forgetting it form my TBR.

A book you’re currently reading?

The only book I’m currently reading is The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski. My boyfriend and I are both obsessed with the new Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, so we have both started looking for any other media that can supply us with more Geralt of Rivia. I’ve turned to the books, and he’s turned to the games.

Last book you recommended to someone?

Hahahahah so I accidentally rec’d Red, White & Royal Blue (review here) during an job interview last week.

Oldest book you’ve read?

Apparently it’s The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin, which was published in 1972. Before that one, the oldest book I’d read was Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, which was published in 1985. I’m really not a classics gal.

The newest book you’ve read?

By ‘newest,’ I’m gonna have to go with the latest release date. So, that would be More Than Maybe, which is Erin Hahn’s sophomore novel. (Out May 12th!)

Favorite author?

Oh, you know, just Austin Siegemund-Broka & Emily Wibberley or Helen Hoang or Mariana Zapata or Morgan Matson or maybe I can’t pick just one…

Buying books or borrowing books?

I like to borrow most of the books that I read, but if I enjoy one enough that it becomes a favorite, it’s likely that I’ll pick up my own copy eventually.

A book you dislike that everyone else seems to like?

Honestly, I really, really hated American Royals but it seems to have found a fan-base foothold with a lot of people. It had such a promising premise, but ultimately chose to focus on petty ‘royal’ drama instead.

Bookmarks or dogear?

I always use a bookmark, or like any random, clean, flat-ish objects laying around.

A book you can always reread?

I’m just gonna go with The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black, because I’ve read each book 3 times in the 5 month span since I first picked up the series.

Can you read while listening to music?

Yes, usually. But if the writing is too difficult or if there is too much going on in the story, then listening to music just distracts me and pulls me out of the book.

One POV or multiple POV?

I will read & enjoy either. I’ve seen both done really well.

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

I love when I get to binge a book in one sitting, but it just doesn’t seem to happen very often. Setting aside enough time to finish a 350+ page book, just isn’t feasible for a normal schedule.

One book you read because of the cover?

The last ARC I requested/the last book I read based on the cover was The Babysitters Coven, which ended up being pretty good (once the story got rolling).

    1. I liked the concept but I just didn’t connect with his storytelling? Oh well, not every author is for every reader, but what’s your favorite book of his? I’ll have to see if i like that one more.

  1. What a fun tag! I can’t wait to read Good Girls Guide To Murder, its on my TBR! & same here, I’m finding I’ve gotten so used to listening to music as I read, its hard not to! Also super random, but I love how there’s always a different/unique feature image for each blog post!! 😍😂💖

    1. Aww thank you! I honestly kind of enjoy making all the different headers. It’s a nice little creative outlet. And I hope you love A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder! It’s one of my favorite reads of 2020, so far.
