So, I have been absolutely blowing through audiobooks this month and it has everything to do with the fact I’ve been sewing masks for friends and family [and now for my etsy shop]. Normally my intake is pretty high anyways, but this month I hit five in the first two weeks, and now I’m working on a 30hr chonk of a book. I was supposed to be focusing on ARCs this month too. OOPS.
This tag hosted on Taking on a World of Words, and it’s super easy to do. Just answer the three W’s.
The Three W’s are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading:
THIS IS THE CHONK. I have been putting off reading this book since LoS absolutely shattered me and sent me into a huge reading slump, approx June 2019. I was planning on reading my hardcover copy but at 921 pages, there’s a reason I kept putting it off. So I finally gave in and checked out the audiobook, shrinking my shadowhunter TBR ever slightly. Anyways, I love being back in this world with all these lovable, familiar characters [even if they shatter my heart]. But, it’s actually quite hard to believe that QOAAD is just one book?? Like, SO MUCH STUFF happens. I feel like I have aged. I know I only have 14% left but that’s still like 4 hours, and SO MANY (other) TERRIBLE THINGS COULD GO WRONG.
Just Finished:
The Near Witch is a wonderful example of how Victoria Schwab’s writing has only gotten more and more fantastical over time. This book definitely has her vibe about it and the world building was illustrative, if not as detailed as her later works. This book follows around Lexi and her small Purtian-esque town, in the week that follows the appearance of a mysterious stranger, and the disappearances of many town children from their beds.
Up Next:
Frankly in Love has been on my TBR for so long that I have lowkey forgotten what it’s about? I recall, fake dating and Korean-American family stuff? I also remember Tree saying it came across more serious than it’s was billed, re: YA rom-com. [See Tree’s full review here.] After 30hrs of action-y fantasy, I’m excited to pick up something a little more realistic, plus I always love a good contemporary.
Other Audiobooks I Binged:
Summer State of Mind by Jen Calonita
Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle
Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli & Aisha Saeed
Happy reading! What are you binging?
xoxo, Bree

So, I binged it…I was good, but not really a rom-com. Still a really solid contemporary though!

30 hours seems ridiculous! I’m listening to a 19 hour audiobook right now and I’m already having trouble. Congratulations on getting this far!

It was rough. I managed to finish it in 25 hrs, with increased speed, but it still took me a week to get through. Good luck on your 19 hr one!!

I feel like I’m perpetually behind on Shadowhunter books. It’s really a lifestyle at this point.

I love audiobooks too! They’re so easy to fly through! I’m glad to hear good things about The Near Witch because I have it lined up to be the next audiobook I listen to!

Yes! It’s very atmospheric and a solid Schwab book. I’m hoping to read her Monsters of Verity duology next.

I’m reading Wuthering Heights at the moment, but omg I really need to get back in the audiobook game. I spend so much time aimlessly scrolling… imagine how many more books I could get through hahah

The best part is that you can aimlessly scroll AND listen! It’s the best of both words.
