BOOK TAG: The Book Snob Book Tag

Tree did this tag back in January, and it looked like fun, so I thought I would try it. But, I didn’t want to double post, so I’ve been biding my time. I figure it’s finally been long enough, so have we are. I feel like I’m not really a snob about anything, but I guess we’ll see.

Adaptation Snob: Do you always read the book before you see the movie?

I try to, but it doesn’t always happen that way. I recently realized that when I see the movie first, I tend appreciate both formats, but when I read the book first, I usually like the it more (unless the adaptation is on point). But, I can definitely say I prefer the movie adaptation of The Stepford Wives...

Format Snob: You can only choose one format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which do you choose: physical, ebooks, or audiobooks?

Shit. I would definitely have to pick audiobooks. No contest. I mean, I love physical reading, but audiobooks are about 70% of my book intake. There’s no way I’d be able to give that up. I guess I’d have to give up ARCs though, and that seems like a fair trade.

Ship Snob: Would you date or marry a nonreader?

No. I’m sorry but I don’t think I could do it. I’m currently dating a reluctant reader (he never seems to be able to ‘find’ time for it, but enjoys it when he does), and even that rubs me the wrong way sometimes.

Genre Snob: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?

I can totally ditch more than once if necessary, but I did vow I would never read another Space Operas again. Just not my thing.

Uber Genre Snob: You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?

That’s not even a difficult question. It’s Contemporary.

Community Snob: Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

Maybe Romance? I know a lot of people write it off without trying it, and that’s honestly a shame. There are so many different settings, plots, and couple combinations within the genre, that there’s really something for everyone. I’ve even found more than a few that my boyfriend enjoyed!

Snobbery Recipient: Have you ever been snubbed for something that you have been reading or for reading in general?

I’ve always been mocked for having been a fan of the Twilight series? Especially people who only ever saw the movies, because like, the books were good (for the early 2000’s). It was just the movies were awful adaptations.

Happy reading!

xoxo, Bree

  1. Twilight is brilliant! I don’t get the hate either. I’ve actually just started a series reread in preparation for midnight sun and I’m having the best time 😊😊😊❤️💜💛

  2. This is such a fun tag! I haven’t seen it around before!

I have to be honest, I don’t always read the book before watching the adaptation, although in most cases the reason I’m interested in the adaptation is because of the book.

And I would have no problem ditching horror, thriller, and mysteries. I know I was only asked to drop one genre, but I’m too much of a scaredy cat to read any of these genres anyways, so I don’t mind ditching all 3.

And I definitely agree that the romance genre gets a fair bit of snobbery from the bookish community, but also just in general. Since that’s one of my favorite genres it always breaks my heart whenever I see someone trash talk it!
