WEEKLY TAG: WWW Wednesday

It’s been a rough couple of months for my reading average. In June I only managed to finish one book (and it was more like the second half of a book I had started in May). I think I finally just got burnt out and dropped off into a massive slump. Thankfully, July has been an upswing so far. And really it’s probably because of an audiobook series reread I started with my boyfriend at the beginning of the month. So, on to the books!

Currently Reading:

The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black is the one I’m currently listening to with Q. We made it through The Cruel Prince pretty fast and now are about 30% through The Wicked King. Even though this is the fourth time I’ve read the series, I’m really enjoying finally having someone to compare full series notes with! (And answering any questions Q has.) Also, I CANNOT wait for How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories, which is a Cardan POV novella coming out in November 2020. (So, this could be considered prep for that too?)

Just Finished:

I introduced Q to the TV show adapted from The Magicians, and subsequently the actual books, a few years ago and he devoured both formats. But I never actually got around to reading the books myself…well, until now. Anyways, I enjoyed book two of this trilogy much more than book one, but Quentin still got a hella bum wrap at the end (per usual). Hoping that gets cleared up in book three though. Also, hoping that the adventuring/magic battles get more page time in the last book. I haven’t yet decided which format I prefer, but it’s looking like it will be an equal split in the end.

Up Next:

My library loan for Grown-Up Pose finally came through and I’m excited to pick it up! I could use a romance palate cleanser after all the fantasy I’ve been reading. I haven’t read any of Sonya Lalli’s books before but I keep hearing good things about them. Plus the premises always sound so cute! In this one the MC opens up a yoga studio and has to figure out out her life after separating from her husband.
