BLOG TOUR: Today Tonight Tomorrow Review

Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Publication Date: July 28, 2020

I’m so excited to be a part of the blog tour for Today Tonight Tomorrow!

Today Tonight TomorrowSynopsis: The Hating Game meets Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist by way of Morgan Matson in this unforgettable romantic comedy about two rival overachievers whose relationship completely transforms over the course of twenty-four hours.

Today, she hates him.

It’s the last day of senior year. Rowan Roth and Neil McNair have been bitter rivals for all of high school, clashing on test scores, student council elections, and even gym class pull-up contests. While Rowan, who secretly wants to write romance novels, is anxious about the future, she’d love to beat her infuriating nemesis one last time.

Tonight, she puts up with him.

When Neil is named valedictorian, Rowan has only one chance at victory: Howl, a senior class game that takes them all over Seattle, a farewell tour of the city she loves. But after learning a group of seniors is out to get them, she and Neil reluctantly decide to team up until they’re the last players left—and then they’ll destroy each other.

As Rowan spends more time with Neil, she realizes he’s much more than the awkward linguistics nerd she’s sparred with for the past four years. And, perhaps, this boy she claims to despise might actually be the boy of her dreams.

Tomorrow…maybe she’s already fallen for him.

WHAT I LOVED:

  • I adore how much Rowan loves romance novels & that this whole plot line
    • Seeing her want to be a romance novelist, but struggling to tell people because they might judge her? Like we all get that about something in our lives
    • Plus it is something that all romance readers feel at some point
  • I low key was not a fan of high school at all, but this made me nostalgic for it? Like dang that is some good writing
  • I loved the exploration the Jewish experience and how Rowan and Neil connected over it
    • I am not Jewish so I cannot comment on the accuracy of the representation, but it is #OwnVoices
    • I just loved seeing Judaism at the center of a story
      • There is some commentary on what it means to be Jewish and what it is like to be a Jewish teen which was great
  • WE LOVE AN ENEMIES TO LOVERS STORY
    • I am a sucker for when two characters who do not like each other spend a lot of time together and then maybe realize they do not hate each other…’
    • Did I write an high school rivals enemies to lovers draft forNaNoWriMo in 2017? Maybe. Did RLS do it way better than I ever could. Oh yeah.
  • This novel is a love letter to Seattle and I loved exploring the city with our characters
    • I just want to go back to Washington okay?
      • TAKE ME THERE
    • I’ve been to Seattle once and spent they day getting coffee with a friend so I legit did not see anything in the city
      • Do I want to go everywhere the characters go in the book now? YES
  • It takes place over 24 hours which dang I love a good emotional journey over the course of a single day
  • THE STAR WARS REFERENCES ARE ON POINT
    • I want to include a quote, but quotes in ARCS are not final so I won’t
  • I read this so quickly. Like one sitting.
    • If you’ve followed my reviews for awhile you know I love books that just suck me in and won’t let go
    • I also reread it to write this review because I need specifics and enjoyed it a second time!!
  • This is not really related to the book, but I loved how this ARC had properly formatted text messages! They sometimes are not even in ARCs so the fact that these were so nice made me happy
  • I love a good scavenger hunt plot
    • Even though I feel like sometimes they got the clues a bit too quickly lol

WHAT I DID NOT LOVE:

  • Rowan’s plot with her friends was not my favorite, but I mean it did not really bother me? I just wish it had been explored a bit more
  • Parts are bit predictable, but at the same time other parts surprised me so it’s all good
  • They are the class of 2020 and well we all know that the class of 2020 did not get to graduate like normal so it feels a bit weird, but like it’s not like anyone predicted what was going to happen

Overall, I adored this novel and cannot wait to read more from Rachel Lynn Solomon! She has an adult rom com coming out next year and I am HYPED.

*Thanks so much to the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
