BOOK TAG: The Animal Crossing New Horizons Book Tag

Since March, it seems like I haven’t gone a single day without at least one mention of Animal Crossing: New Horizons in one of my feeds. So now that I’ve said that, let me be the mention in your feed today! (haha)

I stumbled upon this adorable ACNH tag on Space and Sorcery, but it was originally created by Angharad and Becky @ Two Book Thieves.

PAST VILLAGER: Who is a character you found when you were younger that still has a place in your heart?

percy-jackson

I definitely have to pick Percy Jackson for this. TBH, I think he was my first book crush (the first I want to own up to anyways). The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is also what initially got me hooked on reading, so I’ll always have a fondness for the characters. Plus, this must be where my love of sarcastic guy characters started.

BLATHER’S BLATHERINGS: Recommend a historical fiction book that you think everybody should read.

803120

I don’t read a lot of historical fiction, but one time (a long time ago) I read and absolutely loved Witch Child by Celia Rees. Funny story about that though. I was quite young (under 12) when I read it and didn’t understand what historical fiction was at the time, so I thought it was based on real events. Basically I thought that MC had been a real girl (and possibly a real witch) and that the pages of her diary had been recovered and a book written about it all. It was earth-shattering to my younger self when I found out it was all fiction. Made it a really good read though (and clearly memorable).

CELESTE’S WISH: What is a future book release you wish you could read now?

53440118. sy475

That would definitely have to be Holly Black’s How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories. I’ve already preordered my copy and November 24th can’t come soon enough. Even my boyfriend is anxiously awaiting it’s publication. (Well, since his coerced listen of this series went well.)

TIMMY & TOMMY: What is your favorite sibling relationship in a book?

41150487. sy475

I love love love Alex, June, & Nora from Red, White & Royal Blue! (Yes, I’m including Nora, even if she’s not technically related. She’s part of the White House Trio, ‘kay?) Their little group is so well balanced and supportive. I love how each of them is there for the others in their own unique way. I especially love Nora and her blunt, supportive sarcasm. You can find my full review of RW&RB here.

THE EASTER BUNNY: A popular book character that you’re not a big fan of.

I thought about this for a while, and I’m honestly stuck. I know there are tons of characters that annoy me endlessly, but can’t recall any of them off the top of my head. Also, if I think they’re annoying, it’s unlikely that they’d be “popular” characters. But if I have to give a name, Taryn Duarte from The Cruel Prince. If you know, you know.

NOOK’S LOANS: An author you’d give all your money to.

29852207. sy475

I would definitely purchase physical copies of all of Mariana Zapata books if I had the cash. Since she’s a self-published author her books can be pricey, but they are so worth it! (I like having physical copies, ‘kay?) My boyfriend bought me The Wall of Winnipeg and Me (review here) for a birthday, and now it sits in a place of honor on my favorites shelf.

THE SISTERS ABLE: What is your favorite fictional family (found or otherwise)?

wp-1600332991181.jpg

I’d have to say THE BLACKTHORNS, OF COURSE. Everybody’s favorite Shadowhunter family! They’re just so soft and and miss-matched. I love them all, even the two honorary Blackthorns, Emma & Kit.

IT’S A C+: What is a book trope you don’t like that keeps popping up?

Ugh.  “Miscommunication” is my least favorite trope, especially when it makes an appearance in romance novels. Like I get that people are dumb and stupid misunderstandings/misinformation can happen, but I just don’t enjoy reading about it. I read to escape real life, and I don’t need to read a  book centered around a real-world pet peev of mine. Oh, I also dislike love triangles because they’re hardly ever written well. (I can always tell who the MC will end up with.)

THE WANDERING CAMEL: What is your favorite book set in a land far away from yours?

36204267. sy475

Definitely Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor!! The world Laini paints is lush with whimsy and magic. Reading it was like stepping through a doorway into another world. Check out my full review of Strange the Dreamer here.

WHAT WOULD DODOS DO?: A fictional land you wish you could fly away to at any moment?

44652. sx318

Ooooooh I would definitely check out all the magical preserves in the Fablehaven series! I mean, fairies, centaurs, naiads, dragons, and MAGIC?? What else could a girl ask for? Sign me up for a visit ASAP.

Happy reading!

xoxo, Bree
