BLOGTOBER DAY TWO: Books We Want to Finish In 2020

As we approach the end of the year, we are looking at all the TBRs we set throughout 2020 and wondering why we even bothered to make them. We did this post at the beginning of the year, so check it out if you want to see our lofty goals (that we absolutely faceplanted on)!

Bree:

I wrote this TBR for the Beat the Backlist reading challenge back in March, and so far I have only completed 2 titles off of it. Clearly, I am so great at keeping to my TBRs, and not at all a giant mood reader. With this “TBR” I focused mostly on 2020 titles, since those are the ones I’m still most excited to pick up.

40076537Time of Our Lives by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka

As a long time fan of Emily & Austin, It’s quite surprising that I haven’t picked up their latest book yet. Bad Wibbroka fan, baaad. I even have a copy, it’s just sitting on the shelf next to the next book in this list…

50921307. sx318 sy475 Chosen by Kiersten White

I absolutely binged Slayer when it came out last year, and even made it to a book tour stop for Chosen all the way back in January. Since then it has been sitting on my TBR stack getting neglected, while I try to catch up on ARCs. I’m still very excited to dive back into the Buffy-verse though.

51335759. sy475 Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson

I absolutely binged the US version of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (review here) in March and then I went and preordered the UK edition of the sequel that dropped 2 months later. I just haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. Fingers crossed that I get to it before 2021.

53440118. sy475 How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black

How many times have I mentioned this book since I preordered my copy back in July? Approximately 1,000 times. I will definitely be reading this beauty before November is over!

53138158You Have a Match by Emma Lord

I know this technically doesn’t come out until January, but I read an ARC of Tweet Cute (review here) in November last year. So I thought it would be fun if I read Emma Lord’s sophomore novel in the same time frame, this year.

Tree:

In January I made a stack of 20 books I wanted to read from my physical TBR in 2020 and I have read THREE. 3!!! T H R E E ! ! It’s tragic. Anyways. Some of those I do not even want to read anymore, but I still have big goals for the rest of the year. But, I’m such a mood reader who knows if I will even get to them. But, I like makings lists!

Cinderella Is DeadCinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron

I recently got this from a book swap I did via a Facebook group and I keep eyeing it. This was a book that I was hyped for in 2020 and just have not prioritized it.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia Mexican Gothic

This is another one that I’ve been hyped for since the cover dropped bc WOW. I have heard some mixed reviews and I typically do not reach for gothic literature so I’ve been hesitant to start it. But, I really want to try to read it during this spooky season. Lowkey I never read books in their “appropriate” season so watch me read this in like December.

40874032. sy475 Vicious by V.E. Schwab

I apparently read this for the first time in 2019, but it feels like I read years ago? Anyways, I really want to reread it to see if I still love it as much as I did the first time. Everyone is talking about Schwab’s latest, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which I am HYPED for, but I lowkey want to reread this one first? I just miss Victor Vale & crew. Also, if you have not read this yet, the last line is one of my FAVORITE last lines of all time.

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren In a Holidaze

I want to read a bunch of holiday romances and this one is first on my list! Christina Lauren can be a bit of a hit or miss with me, I loved The Unhoneymooners (read my review here), so fingers crossed I love this one.

All Boys Aren't BlueAll Boy’s Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson

I’ve heard nothing about good things about this memoir. I have the audiobook on hold from my library and can’t wait until it comes in! Plus, how gorgeous is this cover, like wow.

What books do you want to finish by the end of 2020?

xoxo, Bree & Tree
