Something that is so special about being a reader is finding a new author and realizing you love their books. Bonus if they have a sizable backlist for you to devour. Finding new authors however, does not help us keep our TBRs to a reasonable size.

Technically, I found Ruth Ware in late 2019, but I’m going to include her here because she is my only auto-read author for adult mystery/thrillers, and I am actively working my way through her back catalogue. (At a leisurely pace though, so I don’t run out of reading material.)

I adore finding new to me authors and all four of these authors are SO GOOD. I always find it interesting how I (and you) discover new authors. RLS was highly recommended by a friend so I requested an eARC and got to be a part of her blog tour. She is super sweet. I randomly checked out Shrill from my library because I wanted an audiobook and it was available. I was seeing Chloe Liese all over Bookstagram and gave her a try with my Kindle Unlimited trial. I got an ARC of Brandy Colbert’s new book and didn’t read it on time, but then binged it in a night and it made me cry. I can’t wait to read more from these fabulous authors.
Rachel Lynn Solomon

Chloe Liese

Who was your favorite new author?

Shelby Mahurin was a new author to me as well and I am totally in love with her Serpent and Dove series. Can’t wait to read Gods and Monsters! The title “Shit, Actually” made me laugh! Love it.
