BOOK TAG: Bookish Rave & Rant Tag

So I have written a bunch of reviews lately, so I wanted to do a tag to break it up and have some ~variety~ in posts.

The Rave & Rant Tag is an original tag created for Bookending Winter by the  Sumedha @ The Wordy Habitat & I saw it on A Book Wanderer’s page

Rave & Rant Rules

Use this tag to dump your thoughts on books which you’d like to talk more about but usually don’t. Time to really rave about loved books, and rant about frustrating books. And be sure to tag or ping back to the original post by Sumedha!

Rave
A book you loved but don’t talk about enough

Geekerella by Ashley Poston is one of my favorite YA retellings. I’ve done reviews for the second and the third books in the series, but I read Geekerella pre-blogging days. It’s my favorite of the series and I’ve reread it quite a few times.

Rant
A book you didn’t like and haven’t spoken about

Archer’s Voice is a popular romance that is hyped and recommended to me all the time, but I was not a fan and ended up DNFing it

Rave
An author whose works you love

My number one is currently Taylor Jenkins Reid. I love the way she writes her characters. I also got to meet her and she was so sweet. I also love Jason Reynold and have been making my way through all his books.

Rant
An author whose works you [sometimes] don’t like

I’m sure there are plenty of authors that fit into this category. It pains me to say this because I love them as people, but Christiana Lauren’s books. I’ve adored some of their books like The Unhoneymooners (review), but some of their other books…I have not been a fan of. See a mini review of one of those here

Rave
A book you recently loved and want everyone to read

I really loved The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare and if you’re new to historical romances, I think this would be a good place to start. It was so funny and quite steamy!! I flew through this one and it just was a fun time.

Rant
A book you recently didn’t finish and haven’t spoken about

I’ve been DNFing a ton of books lately, but semi recently I DNF’d Jingle Wars & Royal Holiday.

Rave
A book you would recommend to everyone

There is almost nothing I would recommend to everyone since everyone has different tastes etc, but my most recommended books are The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Six of CrowsDear Martin, and all of Jason Reynolds books. But, most recently I read Hood Feminism and I would highly recommend all white feminists read this one.

Rant
A book others like and you don’t understand why

One Day in December was a book that I really did not enjoy and yet other people adore it. This was definitely a book that was marketed to me the wrong way (do I remember exactly what that was? no.) because I guess I can see why some people like it??? Either way, I didn’t like this one so I haven’t picked up the author’s second book. Looking at Goodreads, I gave it three stars, but I think that was me being generous and because it was such an easy to read book.

Thanks for reading!

xoxo, Tree

  1. So glad you like the tag! I’m totally with you on One Day in December. Also, unfortunate that you don’t like all of Christina Lauren’s books but I can understand why.

  2. Yay!! Enjoyed your answers! I wasn’t a big fan of Evelyn Hugo, but I’ve liked every other TJR book I’ve read. I’m excited for Malibu Rising. I finally read Six of Crows last year and I loved it so much! Happy reading. ❤
