BOOK TAG: The Ancient History Book Tag

This seemed like a fun book tag, so of course I had to try my hand at it. I found it over on Stephen Writes, but it originally came from a booktube tag created by Books Michelle!!

The Stone Age: One of the First Books You Remember Reading

The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes by Anne Mazer

820880. sx318

I remember checking this series out from my school library in like third grade, maybe?? Honestly I remember the covers mostly, because the special volumes sparkled, and what child doesn’t like shiny things??

Ancient Greece: Your Favorite Myth-Inspired Book (doesn’t have to be Greek mythology), or retelling

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

Percy-Jackson-books

It’s clearly the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. I reference it all the time and I would definitely love to find out I am a demi-god of any kind. This series really fostered my love of Greek mythology, and honestly, all mythology.

The Roman Empire: A Book Featuring an Impressive Empire or Kingdom

The Folk of the Air by Holly Black

ELFHAME!! Cardan & Jude’s Elfhame!! Ahh What a site that would be to behold, or like even read. Anyways, the magical ways of Elfhame have always enraptured me. Would love to visit.

The Middle Ages (or the Dark Ages): A Book That Is An Absolute Bummer

Solitaire by Alice Oseman

40683413

Maybe not an absolute bummer, but it was definitely a lot more depressing and serious than I ‘d been expecting. Not that I was expecting it to be anything like Heartstopper, but it is more than a little bleak.

The Renaissance: A Book That You’ve Learned A Lot From, or That Made You Think

The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

36337550

I don’t know if it was productive thinking, but this book literally had my brain working in overdrive to try to assemble all the puzzle pieces before the end. My brain has never had that much trouble deciphering a book before, and I wasn’t even successful at figuring it out!

The Industrial Revolution: A Book Featuring A Invention or Concept That You Would Love to Have In Your Own Life

The Magicians by Lev Grossman

6101718

MAGIC!! I want to live in a world with a full-on, elaborate, intellect-based magic-system. None of that wands & brooms magic schtick. I just want be a mage and live in modern society, okay??

World War I & II: Your Favorite Historical Fiction Book About the World Wars (or if you don’t have one, your favorite historical fiction book in general)

A Killer in King’s Cove by Ion Whishaw

29467155. sy475

It’s actually set in the year after WW II, and it follows an ex-intelligence officer after she’s left London for the idyllic countryside of British Colombia. She’s looking for looking for somewhere peaceful to rest after the war, only to be pulled into a murder investigation as soon as she arrives in town.

Present Day: A Book Everybody Should Read In Present Day According to You

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

52516332. sx318 sy475

As a long-time fan of Elizabeth Acevedo, this book kicks you right in the feel and its dual POV will have your heart all twisted up. I absolutely cannot recommend Acevedo’s work enough. I especially love her works written in prose, like like this one (mini review).

I didn’t tag anyone, but feel free to do the tag if you want to!!

Thanks for reading!

xoxo, Bree
