BOOK TAG: the Zodiac Book Tag

I was trolling WordPress looking for interesting book tags, as one does, and I stumbled upon this tag over on The Bookish Mutant. I’ve always been a fan of the moon, stars, constellations, and the just the night sky in general. So a tag about the zodiac signs immediately interested me. Especially as to how each sign relates to a book.

I’m a late June baby, so my sign in the Cancer Crab. I don’t know what that’s supposed to say about me as a person though.

RULES:

ARIES: A wild and powerful book, compelling from start to finish. Every page intoxicated your heart with incredible imagery.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor (review)

I was exceedingly pleased to connect Laini Taylor to one of my favorite childhood book series (Faeries of Dreamdark), and was not at all surprised she brought the same fantastical wonder to the Strange the Dreamer worldscape.

TAURUS: A heart-wrenching story of a forbidden love that could tear a family apart

The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare

YOU WANT HEARTBREAK?? YOU WANT FORBIDDEN LOVE?? YOU WANT FAMILIAL TRAGEDY?? THIS HERE IS YOUR GIRL. ENJOY THAT TRAUMA.

GEMINI: A book that is cheeky, quippy, and witty

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

This book has left an impression on my soul. It’s cute, but at the same time deals with heavier topics (than most YA books did at the time). The the loss and gain of that one summer really hit home.

LEO: A book with drama, love, fancy wear, and hope

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

This book had me hooked the whole way through with its ingenious humor and its loveable mess of characters. I was very glad to find out we’re getting more Luc & Oliver in the sequel, Husband Material!

VIRGO: A tender story of self-love, self-determination, self-discovery, perseverance, romance, friendship, and family

The Folk of the Air by Holly Black

Theses books are my favorite series and absolutely the best adventure to get sucked into!! Between the characters, the story, and the setting, there’s so much to get lost into. Honestly, this story gets better each time you read it and I’m currently sitting at 5 reads per book, so I think I would know.

CAPRICORN: A book that has everything to do with friendship

the Lumberjanes series by Noelle Stevenson

These books are so cute and fun!! I think I binged like the first 5 in one sitting. They follow a group of girls at summer camp where things start to get magically weird. The whole vibe reminds me of being in Girl Scouts and gives me all the nostalgic feels. Not that I’ve ever fought a Cat-God in an underground temple or anything.

AQUARIUS: A quirky and unique book

Sourdough by Robin Sloan (review)

This book is honestly the weirdest conjunction of hobbies and interests I have ever seen in a story. I mean, there’s programming robotic arms, sourdough starters, gloop, elitist cuisine culture, and a whole underground Farmer’s Market, so like something for everyone??

PISCES: A book that bewitched and enchanted you with its lyrical words, and transmuted your imaginative mind

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

Elizabeth Acevedo has always written in such lyrical language that her stories are so easy to fall into. Her expertise really shows through when you pick up her books that are written in prose, like Clap When You Land and The Poet X.

Thanks for reading! I didn’t tag anyone, but feel free to do it if you’re interested!

xoxo, Bree
