This is going up a little late because, well one, it was scheduled later than usual, but also because Bree mixed up the planned posting dates, and now we’re here. #cobloggingstruggles But what’s life without a few bumps? Anyways, on to which books were on our minds this last month!!
We consume so many books in a month, that we don’t always get the chance to talk about all of our favorites. So, we’ve decide to set aside a monthly post specifically for talking about our favorite reads that would have otherwise flown under the radar.
Bree:
So on top of my mess up with the dates, I actually happened to post a WWW Wednesday tag, talking about all my recent reads lol. Thankfully I didn’t talk about my slightly less recent (but still this month) reads, that *cough* I actually enjoyed more! So here we go. First off this month, after much anticipation and hype on Twitter, I picked up The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling! It was the perfect semi-spooky book to wrap my aesthetically witchy fall reading trend. Even though I wasn’t overly invested in what was going on, I was thoroughly entertained by the character’s bickering and antics. I definitely need more witchy romances in my future! I also finally picked up People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry last month. I thoroughly enjoyed it but have literally zero comments! Idk what it is about this month’s reads, but I’ve been whipping through them all so fast; that it’s making summarizing them now, quite hard. All I can recall from my reads is my brain turning into happy goo at an expedient pace. Lastly, at the very beginning of November I (finally) picked up (and absolutely binged) The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang!! I have waiting on this book for what feels like a decade now, and it did not disappoint. I actually read it so fast that I’m going to need a reread to fully process & digest it for my memory. A month of pre-rereads lol.
Tree:
This month my reading was quite chaotic. I read quite a few backlist books which is unusual for me and I did a few rereads. I participated in a Readathon and that pushed me out of my comfort zone a bit (but I’m still a mood reader so not a ton). I really enjoyed The Mistletoe Motive by Chloe Liese which I was lucky enough to read an eARC of and that releases TODAY so hop on this cute holiday novella. But, my favorite novel I read was Act Like it by Lucy Parker. I was worried I was falling into a slump, but then I randomly picked this up at a library book shop thanks to someone on Twitter and then I fell in love with Elaine and Richard and their fake dating scheme. This is a celebrity fake dating with the grumpy/sunshine dynamic which is always a fun time. But, I just really loved this one. It took me out of my slump and yeah, at times it felt a bit dated (it released in 2015), but it was just a fun time and I can’t wait to read more from Lucy Parker. I need to finish this series, because the world was so fun. Please note, there are some trigger warnings for this one and I did my best to list them in my Goodreads review.
What were some of your top reads this month?
xoxo, Bree & Tree
