Hello all! I haven’t done a WWW Wednesday in a hot minute, but I thought it would be fun to do one since I’ve been reading so much this year! In February I participated in Graphicsathon and read 28 graphic novels! You can check out my wrap up here. This month I tried to take it easy and failed spectacularly.
This tag hosted on Taking on a World of Words, and it’s super easy to do. Just answer the three W’s.
The Three W’s are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading:
In a weird mood-reader pick, I binge checked out/requested all of the Wibbroka books from my library. So as a direct effect of that, I am currently rereading If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberly & Austin Siegemund-Broka. Being back in this world is hella nostalgic for me and I love revisiting these characters. I actually think I’m enjoying Cameron’s story more this time!
Just Finished:
The Check, Please books by Ngozi Ukazu just absolutely destroyed me!! I read them, and then I read them both again. Then I also consumed all other Jack & Bitty content I could find; by way of the Check, Please! Chirpbook, and all of Ngozi’s online media. I was emotionally wrecked for two weeks from these cute little pies! (my mental dialogue rn: “No. You can’t reasonably read them a third time this soon.” “But, what if…I did?”) I also just finished reading Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake! And that was also a JOY!! I can’t wait for Astrid’s book to come out in…November. *cries*
Up Next:
I honestly have no idea which book I want to pick up next. I feel like I’ve been burning through books at an expedient rate this year and I can feel the rumblings of a book slump on the horizon. I’d like to hold that off for as long as possible, so only good vibes onward. Anyways, my recent reads have been trending toward contemporary, so I might finally read Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon. Since I already bought it months ago with a libro.fm credit, and have had Tree championing it to me for quite some time (*cough* YEARS). Check out her review of it here!
Happy reading! What have you been binging?
xoxo, Bree
I love binge-reading! lol.. I honestly binge read more than I binge watch. I just binged books 1 & 2 of the Black Wolves fantasy series – “The Blessing of the Black Wolves” and “Raven Seeker” by JS Murphy (https://www.jsmurphy.ca). I love fantasy and epic quests(!) and these books definitely delivered. The characters were really well-developed and the world this author created was a really cool mix of Ancient Rome meets the Dark Ages meets Game of Thrones.
Sometimes romance in fantasy can feel shoehorned in to give the lead some sort of love interest but that is not the case here. But, in book #1 the main characters, Laran and Sheftu are independent characters with their own interesting backstories and motivations. There were some points where I genuinely was not sure which way their journey would end, I was on the edge of my seat! Hope you check it out! Happy reading!
