Hello! I am back again with another WWW Wednesday because I’m literally always reading different things. I also have zero motivation to do anything else like, I don’t know say…write reviews?? Anyways, here’s what I’ve been reading!
This tag hosted on Taking on a World of Words, and it’s super easy to do. Just answer the three W’s.
The Three W’s are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading:
I am most of my way through my binge of Husband Material by Alexis Hall, and loving it! I’m just enjoying being back with this entire cast of characters and seeing them bicker and squabble and roast each other in such a loving way. I also find Luc quite relatable, which is probably problematic in itself. Other than that I am also binging my way through Olivia Dade’s soon-to-be latest, Ship Wrecked. Tree and I reviewed book 1 of this series, Spoiler Alert, and I later reviewed book 2, All the Feels. So, I am really just here for that Olivia Dade brand of electric chemistry and outlandish snark I’ve become familiar with. Lastly, I picked up Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe from my library. I’ve really enjoyed it’s discussion of topics so far, and the fact it is in graphic novel format.
Just Finished:
I have finally finished the muchly anticipated newish Holly Black release, Book of Night! It was fine. It was good. It will never compare to The Folk of the Air. But Alas!! I also found out it was a duology halfway through reading (the literal worst time). Other than that, I actually really did enjoy the book. Mostly for the shadow-magic world building, but also for the sneaky, morally grey characters that you wanted to root for anyways. My main problem was the pacing felt slow, and upon realizing its two book arc length, everything made a lot more sense.
Up Next:
I am clearly on an Alexis Hall binge and I have no self control. So logically I will be reading the ARC I got of Paris Daillencourt Is About to Crumble next. This book takes place in the previously established world of a fictionalized Great British Bake Off-ish competition (Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake), and follows a new competitor through a new season of the show. I can only imagine what might happen in this next installment, but I have a feeling I will be inspired to do some baking of my own.
Happy reading! What have you been binging?
xoxo, Bree
