Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner
Publication Date: October 11th, 2022
Ever since I read Meryl Wilsner’s debut, Something to Talk About (review here), 2.5 years ago, I have been desperately waiting for their next book to release!! As soon as Mistakes Were Made was listed as an eARC I had to request it, and I started binging it immediately once I was approved. This book follows Erin, an older woman, and Cassie, a college grad student, after they hookup one night…only to discover at breakfast the next day they have a common link: Parker — Erin’s daughter & one of Cassie’s best friends. Of course once that realization hits, only more shenanigans can ensue!
What I Liked:
- I absolutely loved all the characters in this book; Parker, Cassie, Acacia, & Erin!! (Not Adam though, because he’s a dick.) Cassie and Erin were stupid cute and not-at-all-stealthy. I also loved the weird trifecta of friendship that is present between Cassie, Acacia & Parker. The chemistry across all the characters was great and the more of them there were in a scene, the more entertained I was.
- I love Meryl’s writing style. It’s just so joyful/bubbly, I guess? Whatever it is, I find myself with a giant grin every time I pick up one of their books!
- This was just as steamy as Meryl promised! All over social media it was “MILF book” this and “8.5 sex scenes” that. But with with all this promised steam, it honestly didn’t feel like too much. Well, at least not for me.
What I Didn’t Like:
- Literally not a complaint, but I was so STRESSED this entire book! I love Cassie and Erin but they are big dumb idiots and NOT SNEAKY AT ALL. They were just never covert enough for me and that led to me being stressed about them getting caught the whole time!!
Recap:
Basically, you should be adding Mistakes Were Made to your TBR pile ASAP! Meryl’s writing is just so infectious and everyone needs that kind of joy in their lives. I have loved all the character Meryl’s created, and I am trash for their writing. Mistakes Were Made is all about the (MILF) vibes and I was here for it! I preordered my copy as soon as I finished reading, and it’s finally arrived. Time to slide it onto my favorites shelf, right next to Something to Talk About! *heart eyes*
5/5 stars
Thanks for reading!
