BLOGTOBER DAY FOUR: The Last Book I… Book Tag

We found this tag over on Feed the Crime, and it looked like such a fun time, we had to attempt it ourselves!

Last Book(s) I Bought:

Bree: My preorder of The Heartstopper Yearbook by Alice Oseman just shipped, so I guess that would be my most recent charge.

Tree: I literally just preordered Well Traveled by Jen DeLuca which releases December 6th.

Last Book I Borrowed:

Bree: I borrowed Ain’t Burned All the Bright by Jason Reynolds from my library. I’m very excited to read it after hearing all of Tree’s raving!

Tree: So I’m doing my Owned October Challenge and haven’t been reading library books recently, but I have been listening to audiobooks of the books that I own thanks to my library. I am currently listening to Not Here to Be Liked Be Liked by Michelle Quach.

Last Book(s) I Was Gifted:

Bree: My boyfriend just gifted me a preorder of The Stolen Heir by Holly Black, so I can attend her upcoming book tour and meet one of my favorite authors ever! *sobbing*

Tree: A friend sent me her copy of Headliners by Lucy Parker so now I have the full set!

Last Book I Gave Someone Else:

Bree: I lent my copy of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson to one of my coworkers, so we’ll see if I ever get that back…

Tree: I went to a recent book event and needed to purchase a copy of the book and I didn’t really want it, so I gave it to a friend. Julia Whelan was lovely and I did like Thank You for Listening, I just didn’t need a copy, you know!

Last Book I Started:

Bree: I just started my reread of Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner! Cassie & Erin forever!

Tree: I started Born a Crime by Trevor Noah a few days ago! I usually listen to memoirs on audio, so it’s a slow go currently, but I am enjoying it.

Last Book I Finished:

Bree: She-Hulk: Planet Without a Hulk by Dan Slott. This was ‘volume 5’ so I am slowly working my way through all these issues.

Tree: I finished Sophie Go’s Lonely Hearts Club. It was okay, not a fave, but it was a book club pick.

Last Book I Rated 5 Stars:

Bree: Blue Period, Vol 12 by Tsubasa Yamaguchi!! I just binged 12 volumes of this manga in 2 weeks and am absolutely devastated to have caught up to currently-releasing updates.

Tree: I really loved Love Times Infinity, a debut novel.

Last Book I Rated 2 Stars:

Bree: I might be too generous of a rater, or I just don’t pick up books I don’t like, because the last time I gave something 2 stars, it was in 2019. So, instead my last 3 star read was The It Girl by Ruth Ware. I normally love her books, but this one just wasn’t for me.

Tree: I usually DNF before I get to a two star rating so I’m following Bree’s lead to do a three star rating. Which was Sophie Go from above and the three star from before that was Fake it Till You Bake It which I reviewed last week.

Last Book I DNF’d:

Bree: The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix just wasn’t for me. I did not enjoy the vibes at all; had to DNF it.

Tree: I’ve been DNFing so much recently and I honestly don’t even remember them all so the last one I DNF’d officially (aka I put it on Goodreads) was Ramón and Julieta and it bummed me out because I wanted to like it and I enjoyed the first bit. Plus the cover is gorgeous!!
