I found this fun little book tag over on Stephen Writes, but originally it comes from The Incessant Bookworm!
Finger Sandwiches: A Book You Savoured Every Minute Of
Blue Period, Vol. 1 by Tsubasa Yamaguchi
I probably ‘savored’ this series less than I should have, considering I binged all 12 that are currently out in the span of 2 weeks. BUT I did appreciate all the art knowledge I picked up while reading, as the main character learned the same. It was a very immersive manga about a high school student getting seriously interested in art for the first time.
Scones: A Book Everyone Should Own
The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black
I am just going to expand this to a series everyone should own because why not? This is one of my all-time favorite series and I’ve read each of the books 5 times since 2019. Anyways, this is an epic fantasy tale from the POV of a twin who was swept away from the human world as a toddler and raise among the faeries.
Biscuits: A Book that Can be Finished in One Sitting
Heartstopper: Volume One by Alice Oseman
Nick & Charlie make binging a book easy. They are the absolute cutest and all the other characters are a lovable as well. Except Nick’s brother. He’s just a jerk, but he’s hardly on page. Check out my review of volumes 1-3!
Patisserie: A Book that is Light and Easy to Read
A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones
After instinctually picking this book for this prompt, I belately realized A Bad Day for Sunshine is a mystery that centers around not one, but TWO missing person cases with mentions of violent crimes. The main character, Sunshine, is just so upbeat and snarky, and the writing is so light, that I just couldn’t pick any other book.
Showstopper: A Book that Blew You Away
I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
As with the rest of the Internet, Jennette McCurdy’s memoir blew me out of the water. From the initial cover and title release, to the actual story between the pages. She’s dealt with so much. I’m just happy that she seems to have put in the work and made a place for herself to thrive.
Tea: A Heart-warming Classic
Check, Please! by Ngozi Ukazu
The Check, Please! books are technically not classics, but the really should be widely beloved by everyone! Bitty & Jack are just too pure for this world and I love all the shenanigans they get up to with their Haus of non-toxic hockey bros. I understand that sentence was a lot, but you really just need to pick up the books to understand the complete wholesomeness of these boys.
Thanks for reading!
