READING CHALLENGE: The 1989 Reading Challenge

You make a Taylor Swift related challenge and I am instantly on board! Thanks to @AliciaClareReads on IG for creating this challenge! It’s also from last year…

Also this is going up so late into the new year because I was waiting for the Harper Collins strike to be resolved since many of these books are Harper Collins titles and I’m happy to say the strike has been resolved. Learn more here.

Even though the strike resolved last month I decided to hold this post because TODAY we are seeing Ms. Taylor Swift in concert with some of our bookstagram friends. I am writing this in advance and truly cannot believe this day is here.

Welcome to New York – a book set in New York City

A Lot Like Adiós by Alexis Daria

Blank Space – a book with an unreliable narrator

The It Girl by Ruth Ware

Style – a book with a gorgeous cover

In the Shadow Garden by Liz Parker

Out of the Woods – a book with trees on the cover

Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score (mini review)

All You Had to Do Was Stay – a book you borrowed from a friend or a library

Fiona and Jane by Joan Chen He

Shake it Off – a book you think will make you smile

Book Lovers by Emily Henry (review)

Bad Blood – a book you preordered or bought on pub day

Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon (review)

Wildest Dreams – reread a favorite book

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

How You Get the Girl – a romance

Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake

This Love – a book with mixed reviews

The Decoy Girlfriend by Lillie Vale

I Know Places – a book set in a place you would like to visit

Pretty Face by Lucy Parker (London!)

Clean – a book with a one word title

Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker and illustrated by Wendy Xu

Wonderland – a retelling

Dating Dr. Dil by Nisha Sharma (Taming of the Shrew retelling)

You Are in Love – a book about writers or writing

Happily Ever Afters Elise Bryant

New Romantics – a book from the romantic era or a retelling of a romance novel

Kiss Her Once For Me by Alison Cochrun*

*This is a stretch because this is a loose (and queer) retelling of the hit Sandra Bullock film While You Were Sleeping, but we got to work with what we got people.

Bad Blood Remix – an anthology with multiple authors

Blackout by Collected Authors*

*Someone told me that technically this is a work of connected short stories, but I didn’t read any other anthologies so this is going to have to do!

What’s your favorite track from 1989? Tbh I’m not sure what mine is, but Out of the Woods is always a good time and I have it on my running playlist.

Thanks for reading!

xoxo, Tree
