Since it’s almost May this is basically the perfect time to do this book tag, so I’m happy I stumbled upon it when I did. I found it over on Biblio Nerd Reflections, but it originally came from Roisin’s Reading over on BookTube.
How many books have you read so far?
I’m currently sitting at 19 books completed, but with the goal being 110 total this year, you could say I’m lagging a bit. I’ve been in a weird reading headspace all year long and I just haven’t been blowing through books at my usual rate.
Have you already found a book you think might be a 2023 favourite? If not, what was your favourite book you read that wasn’t quite five stars?
Nah. I have so many books left to read this year. I may have read one of my top 10 picks in Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Taila Hibbert though, but only time will tell.
Any 1-star books / least favourite book of the year?
I DNF if it’s bad and I’ve already been in a reading slump all year, so I’m really not inviting bad books into my life right now lol. Good book karma only please.
Most read genre so far?
It’s a pretty even split between Fantasy, Contemporary Romance, and & graphic novels right now.
A book that surprised you?
Hmm maybe, Gideon the Ninth because I had no idea what was going on the entire time and as soon I did understand I didn’t want to anymore. *traumatized & sad*
A book that’s come out in 2023 already that you want to read but haven’t yet?
Happy Place by Emily Henry came out like two days ago, and I clearly haven’t had the chance to binge it yet, but I am excited to at some point soon!!
One goal you made that you’re succeeding at
Okay, so every year Tree and I write some bookish resolutions for funsies, and this year I have completely fallen off the track with almost all of them. BUT!! I totally knew that was going to happen bc life changes etc. So I am excited to say I have very much stuck by my proclamation to “continue to support indie bookstores & authors with my purchases”. So far this year it’s been almost solely independent & used bookstores, and audiobooks through Libro.fm.
One goal you made that you need to focus on
Lol see above. I need to crack down on all of them. I would seriously like to get back to like *just* sitting and reading. I know I do too much audiobook-multitasking.
New to you Bloggers/Booktubers/ Bookstagrammers/Booktokers for 2023 you recommend?
I’ve really been vibing with Sydney (Sydney’s Books) & Jordan (The Heart of a Book Blogger) since we all attended opening weekend of the Eras Tour together (with Tree, of course).
Thanks for reading! I didn’t tag anyone, but feel free to do it!
xoxo, Bree
I loved Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute too! It’s a bummer to be in a slump. I’ve been in a weird reading mood recently too, and my ARCs have piled up because all I want to do is mood read from the library or my shelves. I hope you love Happy Place when you get to it. I binged it on Tuesday and really enjoyed it.

Oooh I totally feel you on the ARC pile up!! I’m not even worrying about that anymore; just trying to finish any books I mange to pick up! I am excited about Happy Place though! I’ve yet to dislike an Emily Henry book, so fingers crossed the trend continues.

This was so much fun to read through! I hope you LOVE Happy Place. I’m nearly done with it but it’s definitely a 5-star read for me. Emily Henry can do no wrong with her romance books!
